About UsDSA Photography's four level program is aimed to prepare students for admission to an art school that specializes in Photography or Graphic Design. Assignments increase in complexity from Photo I through Photo IV so that students at the highest level learn to illustrate concepts and stories.
|
Photo IPhoto I will introduce students to the basic design elements and frame modifiers. Beginning with point and shoot cameras we will learn how to download images, remember where they are saved and begin effective image manipulation with Photo Shop. In the second semester we move to using Digital SLR’s and more advanced image manipulation.

III is a challenging, Honors level art course.
Not only will students write their own assignments but are also expected
to create a portfolio of work to present to the art schools during our annual
trip to the Washington, DC Portfolio Day.
The goal is to push students to be truly expressive with photography.

Photography is for students prepared for vigorous, self-designed work. Students are in classrooms with photographers
from all different levels and must maintain focus and momentum throughout the
year. Based on the College Board’s
requirements each student must submit a portfolio in May that contains 12
pieces that show a particular concentration, 12 pieces that represent their
depth and 5 pieces that are matted and display their best work.
